Chris and I bought our home in Waterford, Michigan, in 2008, never fully realizing just how much life would unfold within those walls. At the time, it was more than just a house we were purchasing — it was the beginning of a chapter, a place where our life together would grow roots. Over the years, that home became the setting for countless memories, both big and small, the kind that quietly shape a life and stay with you forever.
For 17 wonderful years, that house held our story. It was where we celebrated holidays, welcomed family and friends, laughed until we cried, and made ordinary days feel special just by sharing them together. It was filled with the sounds of conversations around the table, the comfort of familiar routines, and the kind of warmth that only a truly loved home can hold. We shared every season of life there with each other and with our two wonderful cats, who made that house feel even more complete. They were part of our daily rhythm, our quiet moments, and our happiest memories, and that home was just as much theirs as it was ours.
We loved our home deeply. We loved our neighborhood, too — the familiarity of it, the comfort of seeing the same streets and knowing the people around us, the sense of belonging that only comes from years of living in one place. It gave us stability, memories, and a foundation for so much of our life together.
But as much as we loved Michigan, there was one thing we never could quite love: the cold. Year after year, through snowstorms, gray skies, icy mornings, and long winters, we found ourselves dreaming of something different. We imagined sunshine on our skin, palm trees swaying in the breeze, and a life where warmth wasn’t something you had to wait half the year to feel.
And then one day, after all those years of dreaming and talking about it, we finally did it. We made the big leap. We left behind the cold and chose a new chapter in Florida — a place filled with sunshine, blue skies, and the kind of everyday beauty we had longed for. It was bittersweet to say goodbye to the home and neighborhood that had given us so much, but it also felt exciting, freeing, and right.
Now, instead of bundling up against the winter, we wake up to sunshine and palm trees. We traded snow for warmth, gray days for bright ones, and “maybe someday” for the life we finally decided to live. Michigan will always hold a huge piece of our hearts because that is where so much of our story was written. But Florida is where we chose to begin again — to live every day a little lighter, a little warmer, and exactly the way we always hoped we would.

After purchasing our new home, everything suddenly became real. What had once been a dream we talked about over and over was now actually happening. We boarded a plane and flew back to Michigan, knowing that when we landed, we weren’t just going back home — we were going back to close one chapter of our lives and begin another.
Once we got there, it all moved fast. We picked up a U-Haul trailer, came back to the house, and got straight to work. Room by room, closet by closet, drawer by drawer, we started tearing apart the life we had built there. The same home that had once been so full of laughter, holidays, memories, and comfort slowly began to look different. Each packed box was a reminder that this was really goodbye. Every shelf cleared off, every picture taken down, every cabinet emptied made the house feel a little less like home and a little more like a place we used to live.
We packed it piece by piece, room by room, until eventually it stood almost unrecognizable — quiet, bare, and hollow. What had once been filled with warmth and life was now just an empty shell, holding only echoes of the years we had spent there. It was emotional and strange, seeing the place that had meant so much to us stripped down to walls and floors. In that emptiness, all the memories seemed even louder.
Then came the moment that made us know, without question, that we were doing the right thing. We looked outside and saw the snow — cold, white, piled up like Michigan was giving us one final winter goodbye. And with that view in front of us, we were more than ready to go.
So we got in the car and started driving south, leaving behind the frozen streets and familiar roads of the life we had known for so long. State by state, mile by mile, we made our way toward the life we had imagined. We drove through Ohio, then West Virginia, then North Carolina, then South Carolina, and kept going until Florida was finally within reach. It was a long road — 19 hours total, with one overnight stay along the way — but every mile felt like movement toward something brighter.
The farther south we went, the more it felt like we were shedding an old season of life. The snow was behind us. The cold was behind us. The life we loved but had outgrown was behind us. Ahead of us was sunshine, palm trees, warmth, and the beginning of something new.
And when we finally made it to Florida, exhausted from the drive but full of excitement, it felt surreal. After all the dreaming, all the planning, all the packing, and all the goodbyes, we were finally here. We had done it. We had left behind the cold and made it to the place where we had always hoped to be — ready to start over, ready to breathe deeper, and ready to live the life we had promised ourselves for so long.

Our new dream home feels like the reward at the end of a long journey — the kind of place we used to imagine, talk about, and hope for, and now somehow get to call our own. After years of dreaming about sunshine, warmth, and a fresh start, we found it: a beautiful four-bedroom, two-and-a-half-bath home that feels like it was made for this new chapter of our lives.
From the moment we saw it, we knew it was special. It had everything we had been wanting and everything we had worked so hard for. It wasn’t just a house — it was the feeling of possibility, comfort, peace, and excitement all wrapped into one place. Every room felt like an invitation to build a life we truly loved.
With four bedrooms, we finally have the kind of space that lets us breathe. There is room for guests, room for hobbies, room to spread out, decorate, dream, and make each space our own. The two-and-a-half baths add that extra layer of comfort and ease, making the house feel both practical and luxurious at the same time. Everything about it gives us more freedom, more convenience, and more room to enjoy everyday life.
And then there is the part that still feels almost unreal — our private pool and hot tub. It feels like living in a vacation home every single day. We can step outside and be greeted by sparkling water, warm air, and the kind of peaceful atmosphere that instantly makes the stress melt away. The pool is where sunny afternoons turn into memories, and the hot tub is where evenings become calm, quiet, and perfect. It is our own little private escape, right in our backyard. everywhere we look, there is beauty. Palm trees, Tropical flowers add color and life all around us. The whole neighborhood feels bright, lush, and alive in a way that makes every day feel different from the life we left behind.
One of the most beautiful parts of all is the atmosphere at night. The colored lights give everything a soft, glowing beauty that makes the home feel warm, welcoming, and just a little bit magical. There is something so peaceful about looking out and seeing those beautiful colors around us, reflecting the kind of life we always wanted — vibrant, joyful, and full of warmth.
What makes this house truly our dream home is not just the features, though it has everything we could want. It is the privacy, the space, the beauty, and the feeling that we have finally created a life that fits us. We have enough room for everything we want, enough peace to enjoy it, and the kind of surroundings that make us grateful every single day.
This home is more than a new address. It is a dream realized. It is sunshine, comfort, beauty, and freedom. It is the place where we get to wake up every day surrounded by palm trees, tropical flowers, and everything we once only wished for. And now, it is ours.

Since moving to Melbourne, Florida, life has already been filled with so many exciting new experiences and memories. What once felt like a dream of sunshine, adventure, and a fresh start has quickly become our everyday life, and we have loved exploring everything this beautiful area has to offer.
We have already discovered a few restaurants that we absolutely love, places that have quickly become favorites and made Melbourne feel even more like home. We have spent time fishing on the beach, enjoying the peaceful sound of the waves and the simple happiness of being by the ocean. We have also gone seashell collecting, finding little treasures along the shore and taking in the beauty of the Florida coast.
One of the most unforgettable adventures so far was going out on the Victory Cruise casino boat and getting to watch a live SpaceX shuttle launch from just three miles out in the ocean, right in front of the NASA launch pad. It was one of those surreal moments that felt almost too incredible to be real — standing out there on the water, watching something so powerful and amazing happen right before our eyes. It is the kind of experience we will never forget.
Back at home, we have been making the most of everything we dreamed about when we made the move. We have swam in our pool, relaxed in the sunshine, and even watched UFC fights on our poolside TV, turning ordinary days into fun memories. We have taken walks throughout the neighborhood, enjoying the beauty around us and getting more familiar with the place we now call home. We have gone shopping, explored the area, and continued finding little things that make life here feel exciting and new.
And one of the most amazing parts of all is that we do not even have to leave home to witness something incredible. We have watched the Falcon 9 SpaceX launch right from our own backyard while in the pool, seeing it soar right over our home. It is such a surreal and unforgettable sight, and it makes living here feel even more extraordinary. Moments like that remind us just how special this new chapter truly is.
Every week seems to bring something new, something fun, and something worth remembering. Melbourne has already given us so much to enjoy, and it feels like we are only just getting started. We are so excited to see what other adventures, experiences, and memories are waiting for us here in Melbourne, Florida, as we continue building this beautiful new life together.
