Marathon Key, Florida Trip July 2021

Finally a vacation after a year plus of Covid-19 lockdowns and rules. We stayed home and away from family, friends, travel, and all the places we love. Well now we are vaccinated and our family members are to. So its time for an escape and some sense of normal. Living in Michigan our lockdown rules were quite extreme. So a chance to live free of masks and worry and rules was exactly what my soul needed. So we booked a flight to Fort Lauderdale Airport, rented a car and drove 3 hours to Marathon Key where our family has a condo! This place is just a slice of heaven for us at this point. The canal right out the condo door, The warm Sunshine hit our faces and i felt an instant happy inside. I battled anxiety during lockdown more then normal so the feeling of happy inside was so needed.

First thing on our agenda was getting some food and tropical drinks. So we headed next door to the tiki bar pool to eat and enjoy some food and drinks.

Day 2 we decided that it was a pool kinda day! So we headed down to the private condo pool and we enjoyed the sunshine, water, and played with Chris’s snorkeling gear. We had the whole pool all to ourselves. It was such a beautiful day.

Day 3 we headed to islandmorada key to visit the Theater of the sea. This place was amazing. We got to see so many tropical birds, sea lions, we did a shark feeding, a dolphin show that was out of this world. I would recommend everyone go here just for the dolphin show. They offer the chance to swim with the dolphins but they were all booked on the day we went so i suggest booking that in advance if you decide to check it out!

Our last day we spent down in Key West shopping, eating, and walking Duval street. We shopped at my favorite store in the south Ross Dress For Less! We also stopped at a diving store so Chris could check out lobster diving gear. He will be going back down in August for that! We went to sombrero beach as well so Chris could try his snorkeling gear out! All in all it was a wonderful trip! We had great weather, good food, and made everlasting memories together! I cant wait for the next trip! Watch out Las Vegas here we come!
