Have you ever wondered what it takes for your favorite singer or band to put on that awesome concert you went to? Or wonder what that artist does on the day of their show? Well today im going to show you a day in the life of The Blunt Band. Its really not just one day. It starts a week before the live show. First we have to decide on what songs to do at that venue. Different locations bring in different crowds so we are forever updating our song list. Then we all get together for a full band practice and run through our upcoming show set and iron out any kinks that need to be done. Then the hard work begins. We tear down all the equipment and haul it to the next location. My house. That is Blunt Band gear storage head quarters. hahaha.
Now for set up and sound check. The day of our shows we like to meet as early as possible. We haul all the equipment to the venue and begin the set up process. Running wires, setting up amps, drums, guitars, microphones, lights, and most important the dance floor. So this is about a 2 hour process from start to finish on the day of the show. Then its home to relax or shall i say take a nap before showtime!!!
Showtime is about to begin and we are finalizing all our song lists, and sounds, and tuning everything just right as we get ready to ROCK THE HOUSE FOR 3 HOURS! Saying hello to everyone that came and answering questions from random people wanting to know what you and your band play, then you get those who ask for requests as well. It is so much work and time and dedication. But most of all it is so rewarding to be on stage getting paid to do something you love. As a bonus for me i get to do it with more then friends, i have my dad and my brother in law on stage with me! And not to forget Chris he is always by my side supporting me in everything i do! I am so lucky.
The Show is over, It was a huge success! Happy dancers, Happy people! We also celebrated birthdays with 3 of our fans! That is why we do what we do. So other people can get the same amount of joy out of music as we do! Now to pack the equipment up and head out to our tradition of band breakfast after the show!!
